Hello, my name is Don and I’m in Allen, Texas and I’m a veterinarian.
Why did you look for help?
I was at the, what I considered the bottom, in my life. I’m 56 years old and I reached a point where I was going, holy smokes, how did I get this way?
What made you reach out?
When I realized day in and day out that I was overweight then that was very depressing to me and it affected my day-to-day life. When I thought that if I could address my weight then a lot of things would get better and I was right.
Why not just join a gym?
I’ve had memberships to fitness clubs in my life and they’ve always failed because it was me having to get up, find time and go up there and it just wasn’t a very good fit for me. If someone’s going to show up at my house I was forced to make time for that and I thought that is the leverage that I will use to springboard back into better health.
How many pounds did you lose?
I think it was 106 days and I’ve lost 36 pounds, okay? So there’s a number for ya!
Why was it important to you?
Carrying two grandkids around at the same time and I had to get in shape, better shape, and maintain that shape.
What’s unique about Elect Wellness?
The thing that I was reminded of daily in this program is trying to eat right.
Thoughts on record weight loss?
The analogy that I had in my mind was you want to run your tank about one-eighth of a tank all the time; a quarter of a tank, one-eighth of a tank and when you hit fumes listen to your body and go put a little more gas in the tank and always be flirting with the low-end of that fuel reserve and that’s how you keep chipping away at that fat.
So, I was able to watch my numbers as far as lean body percentage and that was very helpful. I thought that was a good way to make sure that I didn’t lose time and lost weight properly and it worked.
What if you revert to old habits?
If I ever hit that wall that I’m tempted to backslide into where I was prior to 56 years of age for the last 15 years of excess that there is no way that I’m going to get away with it.
What do people need to realize?
You’re going to find yourself in doctor’s offices, hospitals, pharmacies picking up medications or you can avoid all that and put your efforts and emphasis on prevention.
How can others be successful too?
You’ve got to plan for the success. You’ve got to have the right nutrition available to you, hands-length, arms-length, away at the right times. You’ve got to have coaching, nutritionally wise people like (Kelsey) to help you solve problems within yourself as to why you’re struggling or why you’re succeeding.
Daily accountability and advising?
That is your opportunity to adjust in a 24-hour period what you’re going to do the next day. You’re going to lay your head down on the pillow, it’s done for the day now regroup and adjust and improve or duplicate if you hit it on the nail and hit it again the next day and you can’t do that unless you log in what you did that day.
